Woman of the Decade in Enterprise & Leadership Award

Jacqueline O’Donovan was presented with the ‘Woman of the Decade in Enterprise and Leadership‘ award at the Women’s Economic Forum (WEF) Conference in Birmingham recently.

As MD of O’Donovan Waste Disposal, Jacqueline is one of the construction and demolition waste sectors’ most passionate pioneers of employee training, industry best practice and road safety. Under her steer, the family-run waste management business has gone from strength to strength and has 160 employees and a turnover of over £19m.  Jacqueline is recognised as a regular industry speaker, an innovator and a leading force in the industry, with several accolades including Outstanding Woman in Construction, Vitalise Business Woman of the Year and Institute of Directors’ Family Business Director of the Year.

She has been given the Freedom of the City of London and was honoured by Irish President with a Presidential Distinguished Service Award.  She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), the Institute of Couriers (IoC), as well as the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transport (CIHT).  Jacqueline is a chartered waste manager of the CIWM.

Jacqueline was a speaker at the recent WEF conference which took place in Birmingham with the theme of “Enhancing Women’s Economic Power” aiming to empower women to expand their business opportunities and increase global influence.  Dr Neslyn Watson-Druée CBE MBE FCGI FRCN UEC presented the award to Jacqueline at the end of her speech on the panel.

Jacqueline commented “To be perceived as a leading woman in business is an absolute honour and I’m grateful for this recognition.  What a lovely surprise to receive such a prestigious award”.
